You should receive a letter from the plan by Oct. 2 explaining your options. It is always a shock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/calendly.com\/the-suzie\/60min\">talk with Suzie<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/suziemedicare.org\/\" title=\"\">Suzie<\/a> has been around long enough that she worked with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.premera.com\/press-releases\/2018-09-10\" title=\"\">Soundpath Health Medicare Advantage Customers<\/a> when that Insurance Plan left in 2019. Suzie has worked with various insurance companies from around the state and we built out action plans over the years to make these transitions as easy as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When can I join a new Medicare Advantage plan?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The three most common Medicare Advantage plan enrollment periods are the:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Initial Coverage Enrollment Period when you first join Medicare Parts A and B usually around your 65<sup>th<\/sup> birthday.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Annual Enrollment Period, <strong>Oct. 15 &#8211; Dec. 7<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period, <strong>Jan. 1 &#8211; March 31<\/strong> each year if you have a Medicare Advantage Plan then you can change to another plan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to these three enrollment periods, because your plan is leaving Medicare, you also get a <strong>Special Enrollment Period<\/strong> in which you have two options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Join a different Medicare Advantage plan from <em>Dec. 8 to the last day of February<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>or<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Join a new Medicare Part D stand-alone plan from <strong>Dec. 8 to the last day of February<\/strong> (this automatically enrolls you in Original Medicare). This also allows you to enroll in a Medigap (Medicare Supplement) plan within 63 days after your Medicare Advantage plan ends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wenatcheeinsurance.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/medicare-calendar-sign-up-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-375\" style=\"width:609px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wenatcheeinsurance.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/medicare-calendar-sign-up-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.wenatcheeinsurance.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/medicare-calendar-sign-up-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.wenatcheeinsurance.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/medicare-calendar-sign-up-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.wenatcheeinsurance.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/medicare-calendar-sign-up.jpg 1376w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The company offering the Medigap plan must take you if you choose a B-N plan and you don&#8217;t have to take a health screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Note:\u00a0 If you&#8217;re under age 65 on Medicare due to disability, you might not be able to get a Medigap.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Whichever option you choose, your new plan starts the first day of the month after you switch. To avoid a coverage gap you should <strong>sign up with a new plan before Dec. 31<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whenever <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wenatcheeinsurance.com\/medicare.html\" title=\"\">Suzie<\/a> sees a large shift Medicare Shift, we recommend setting an appointment as early as possible. We have seen people miss the deadlines and it makes for a tough year.
