Medicare is the Federal Health Insurance program for people who are 65 or older, certain folk under 65 with disabilities and those who have End Stage Renal Disease. We here at Suzie Health Solutions, the Health Insurance Branch of Wenatchee Insurance, can help you get enrolled and pick the plans that are best for you.
Medicare Insurance is not a requirement, but it is a great idea. Most people choose Medicare when they turn 65.
Original Medicare is broken up into 2 different components. Medicare A, your hospital insurance and Medicare B your Medical insurance. Original Medicare covers about 80% of your Medicare approved services. Original Medicare, A&B does not cover prescription medications.
To cover what Original Medicare doesn’t, you can choose a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan to fill in the 20% gap, and Medicare D to cover your prescriptions. OR a Medicare Advantage Plan, (sometimes called Medicare C).
Medicare Advantage plans usually have Part D prescription drug coverage included as part of the package. Medicare Advantage plans also can have additional benefits, such as vision or dental, that Original Medicare does not cover.
